Okay, to start this off I might as well say that I am African-American, Caucasian, I think I have some Dominican or Puerto Rican in me and some Asian. In the African-American community there is a label called Oreo. If you don't know what an Oreo is it is a black person who acts white. My sister called me an Oreo once. Maybe its because of how I like rock and roll, pop, and rap. Maybe its because of all the anime I watch and how I love Japanese culture. This led me to define a Oreo. Are you an Oreo if you like music other than rap? Are you an Oreo if you like to look at some other cultures and embrace them? To me the only way you can call someone an Oreo is if they wish to be another race, talk constantly about how bad the African American community is, or is overall a person that doesn't want to put them self in the category of black. I'm not trying to complain or start something, but next time I hear someone call somebody else a Oreo, I am going to ask them, "Define Oreo."
This is actually a blog post from my blog, but it's poetry to me too.

I don't think anyone should live up to stereotypes. The only people I would dare care Oreos are the ones who, like you said, constantly defame African-Americans, but then "Oreo" would be too tame a term for such racists. As for everyone else, just be yourself and don't worry about conforming to racial stereotypes.
